Mobile apps have become increasingly popular among consumers, with diverse handsets and platforms that depend on individual preference. Aiming to give end-users further control and personalization choices over their mobile experiences and to expand the versatility of this rich market, ARPU+ developed Mobile Bananas®; which is the first regional independent app store in the MENA region. Mobile Bananas® was created during the 2011 GSMA Mobile World Congress (MWC) at Barcelona, Spain.
Mobile Bananas® is a full eco-system for application development, distribution and monetization; including a developer’s community to support mobile app developers.
Mobile Bananas® is positioned to become the first independent digital entertainment store containing applications, games, music, graphics, etc, that is not tied to a particular mobile operator or handset manufacturer.
Consumers from across the globe can access Mobile Bananas® through multiple channels including the web, mobile internet/WAP (Wireless Application Protocol), SMS, IVR (Interactive Voice Response) and ODP (On-Device-Portals). Mobile Bananas also supports nearly every kind of smart-phone from every phone manufacturer and carrier in the world, including Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Java and Symbian phones.
What’s more is the multiple-billing systems via premium SMS, credit cards and e-vouchers. It is also noteworthy that Mobile Bananas® added an in-app macro billing feature within its GoHockey app, allowing app users to pay for in-app extra content and premium feeds through direct operator billing. This is being successfully implemented today as a pilot project with Wind Canada (www.windmobile.ca).
Managed App Stores
Mobile App Stores are the markets of the present time and, with ARPU+, mobile network operators and handset manufacturers can enjoy customized solutions that perfectly tailor to their needs.
ARPU+ provides mobile network operators with their own branded app store, loaded with a full library of applications and content. And the ARPU+ role does not end there! We also manage the platform, host the service, select the content and handle the branding.
On the other hand, handsets manufacturers can market and sell handsets with preloaded libraries of apps and content of their choice.
